Mayor Bloomberg Dumps The GOP
While in California, at a conference entitled "Ceasefire! Bridging The Partisan Divide", New York's Mayor Mike Bloomberg announced he was leaving the Republican Party to become an independent. This not that unusual, he left the Democrats to become the GOP candidate for mayor, the office he now holds. His move however, is causing many to think he is preparing for an independent 3rd party presidential run. This of course, worries both parties, which see an independent as a threat to their power.
What is interesting though, are his comments. Here are a few excerpts from his speech, which can be found on his website, MikeBloomberg.com.
"Washington is sinking into a swamp of dysfunction"
"...we do not have to settle for the same old politics.."
"...The politics of partisanship and the resulting inaction and excuses have paralyzed decision-making ... and the big issues of the day are not being addressed..."
" Non-partisan leadership also requires good, old fashioned honesty and common sense..."
"..Honesty means having the courage to tell the public the unvarnished truth.."
"..the value of non-partisan leadership: accountability.."
If any of this sounds somewhat familiar to you, it is probably because you have read similar comments throughout this website. In the various pages and discussions I have written about these very same points demonstrating that indeed, the two parties have descended into a partisanship battle that is hurting our country. I have stated how they feel themselves unaccountable to the rightful owners of this great nation, you and me. I have also told you that I will bring common sense to the decision making process and that I will always tell you the truth.
It's nice to have someone of the Mayor's rank agree with me, but there is something missing in his presentation. He left out the most important part of any discussion about the failures in our nation's capital, how it got to be that way! The truth is that the DEM/GOP/MSM propaganda machines have perfected the age old tactic of telling a lie often enough until it is believed and accepted. That lie is that only they are wise enough, smart enough, capable enough to govern. As long as we remain convinced of that myth, we will allow the two parties to continue to grow in power, and they will pursue their own agenda despite what we the people may desire.
If we elect another elite from either party (That includes Mayor Bloomberg, who may wear the tag of Independent but is part and parcel of the power structure. Take a look at how he has ignored the Constitution in New York), we will guarantee for our nation and our children a future of more big government and declining personal freedoms. We need to get past the party politics and set our country on a journey home to the founding principles that made America the greatest nation this world has ever seen. There's a real problem in this country as the Mayor and I have pointed out. What are we going to do about it? The same old politics? More partisanship? Continued dishonesty and lack of accountability? The time for choosing is coming, where will you stand? |
