Business As Usual
According to an LA Times/Bloomberg News Service poll, 63% answered a question about the new congress as to whether or not there was "fundamental change" or "business as usual" by choosing the latter. This answer no doubt covers a lot of ground, but here is the kicker. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi had made a big deal out of the corruption charges used by the Democrats in the 2006 election. What was promised to us was a new transparency that would do away with all of that stuff. Many Republicans, though disheartened about losing congressional control, thought that would be a good idea. After all, no matter who is in charge, it is still our money!
In 1994 there were 4,126 earmarks in the appropriations bill. By 2004, it had grown to 15,877. Well, in our new congress, this year's total will be about 30,000. If that isn't bad enough, new rules requiring earmarks (that's pork barrel spending) and the sponsors of such to be publicized that were created by the Republicans to try to convince everyone how righteous they were have been eliminated. All earmarks will now be added during the House / Senate conference to finalize the appropriations and are not subject to removal afterward. Of course, the conferences are usually closed to the public, so who knows what is actually being done with our money!
It is simply amazing how arrogant the elites who have secured power to themselves truly are. There really isn't much more to say about this, it's the same old story. We have fallen for the myth that only the Democrats and Republicans can hold office, only they are smart enough, wise enough, and there is no other choice but to elect one of them. As long as that attitude prevails in the minds of Americans, we will never break free from the hold they have. We will of course, continue to receive the payoff of pork barrel spending and entitlements, while they pursue their own agendas and goals! As for the will of the people, it looks like we are left footing the bill, whether the appropriations are wise or foolish.
The real danger in all of this is not so much the foolish spending, but the uncontrolled power that the elites have. It is the agenda of both parties to bring America into line with the rest of the world in a New World Order/One World Government configuration. And, if we do not wish to relinquish our sovereignty, well, too bad, because they are going to do it.
How can we stop this outright theft of our birthright which is being given away to further the internationalist goals of the elite? We need to replace everyone of them, but that won't happen easily. There is one thing we can do however; We can deny them the one thing they desire most of all, the Presidency! We can do that if we have faith and courage. So then, the question becomes, do we have those characteristics within ourselves or not? Each of us needs to fully weigh the consequences of our vote in the next election, and we must choose to do what is right. What is there to be afraid of anyway? The elites have already stolen our inheritance, we just have to reclaim it. |
