The short memories of American voters is what  keeps our politicians in office.

Hi.  My name is Joe Oliva and I am a candidate for President of the United States in 2008.  The first comment most people make upon hearing this goes something like, 'Do you know how much money it takes to do that?', or, 'No one knows who you are'.  They think it is ridiculous, but I don't!  I will tell you though, some things  I think are ridiculous. I think it is ridiculous that:

1.  Only a Democrat or Republican should be President.

2.  Only politicians or businessmen with huge bank accounts and powerful political machines can be
     President.

3.  In election after election the American  people have only two choices.

4.  The 2 major parties have so rigged the election process that they are virtually assured a lock on power.

5.  Individuals such as George Bush and John Kerry belonged to secret clubs such as "Skulls & Bones"
while attending college, and have used those contacts to further their own ambitions.

6.  Politicians appear on the many news shows on cable TV, get interviewed by high profile reporters, and
never give a straight answer to any question they are asked.

7.  After getting elected, these individuals become rich on lobbyist money, campaign treasuries, and
insider information, forgetting the promises they made to us.

8.  These politicians give themselves generous salaries, health plans, and retirement benefits.  They
provide themselves with lavish perks, all manner of days off, don't work 40 hours per week, and in many
cases, don't even bother to show up for work when they are supposed to.

9.  These people use our tax dollars as if the money was their own.  They spend it with little regard for how
hard we work, then offer us some special pork project to buy our vote in the next election.

10. These politicians stay in office for years and years and still manage to accomplish so little.

I'm sure that I am not telling you anything you don't already know.  This list could easily include many more points.  The real issue is, how long are we going to continue to allow this to happen?  Are we such sheep that we will keep giving money to their campaigns, volunteer to hand out fliers and put signs up on lamposts, attend their rallies, eagerly cheering for them, and then watch as they ignore the important business of tending to America?

We go from election to election, each time hoping that this is the time when the results will be different.  Yet, with each passing election we see the same old story.  More DO NOTHING, LET'S GET RE-ELECTED, POWER HUNGRY PARTISANS OF BOTH PARTIES fighting for fame and fortune, after promising us a new tomorrow!  To paraphrase Albert Einstein, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results"!  This is what we have been doing and it is up to all of us to stop the insanity!

If you believe nothing else, believe this - The power to change what is going on is really in your hands, but it will take a leap of faith on your part to make it happen.  Another comment I hear from others is, 'Well, you know, if you don't vote for the Democrats or Republicans, your vote will be wasted'  (see point 1 above).  My fellow Americans, I am telling you that when you VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN, THAT IS WHEN YOU WASTE YOUR VOTE!

You know, I love this great country as much as anyone.  I believe that America was founded by a unique group of individuals who saw the abuses of power by kings and emperors and megalomaniacs.  They saw America as a place to start anew with the power of government in the hands of a free people.  They pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor in an attempt to make it happen.  We owe it to those great patriots, and to those  who will come after us, to see that this great nation remains in the hands of a free people!

After the Constitutional Convention, when that great document was finished, Benjamin Franklin was asked, "What have you given us"?  His reply, "A republic, if you can keep it".  We can keep it, or we can continue to allow these political elites to own it.  This choice is before us as this presidential campaign unfolds.

I hope that you will browse this website.  In it I will explain what I see as the problems facing America in the 21st century.  I will be adding pages to explain my position on these issues and I will be asking for your comments on these ideas.  I will explain how and why my being elected as Your President will be different, how I will govern, and most importantly, how you will really be a part of the decision making process.

If you agree with me, then I am asking you to do a few things.  I am asking you to change the way you think, to look beyond the powerful Democratic and Republican propaganda, to consider the future of our country, to make that leap of faith I mentioned, and to ultimately take back the reins of power that belong to all of us.  I am asking that you pass along this website address to friends, have them check it out, and then pass  it on to others.  And finally, I am asking you on election day in 2008 to vote for me.

If you have read this far, then a big thank you to yourself is inorder.  You can thank yourself for having the curiosity and desire to believe in an alternative, that the same old same old doesn't have to be.  You can thank yourself for imagining a world other than what is being presented to us, supposedly in our name.  Finally, you can thank yourself for doing something new to preserve freedom.  May God bless you and America.
