Change, What Does It Really Mean?

It appears that the buzz word for the 2008 election is 'Change', but what does it really mean?  Democrat candidate Senator Barack Obama has propelled the idea to the forefront, and each of the candidates is claiming to be the agent of change.

Governor Romney talks about the changes he made as governor of Massachussetts, and Senator Clinton has stated that she has been making change for 35 years.  Mayor Rudy Giuliani at least has asked the question, what are we changing from and what are we changing to?  That seems appropriate to me.

I believe that the change that we need is in our political power structure in Washington!    To answer the Mayor, what we need to change from is the partisanship of the two elite parties that seek power above all.  What we need to change to is someone who is not a member of either elite party, someone who will stand up for the American people and the Constitution.

The promise of our birthright has been stolen by the elites of both parties.  By engineering the election process to assure themselves continued power, they have rejected leadership, replacing it with partisanship.  The end result is not solutions to problems, not answers to the challenges ahead.

Neither party is based upon any real Constitutional foundation. Therefore, the proposals they offer are not sound.  In the battle for power, false arguments, labelled 'liberal' or 'conservative', are put forth as solutions.  These are not really solutions however.  They are incremental tinkering around the edges and swing back and forth depending upon which party is in power.

If our elite politicians were grounded in truth and followed the Constitution, we would get innovative, intelligent, and creative legislation that would build up the nation and expand freedom for the people.  The freedom envisioned by the Founding Fathers is what would propel the nation forward, keeping it secure and prosperous.

Our Washington elites however, do not follow that path because it limits their power.  Instead, they have created a nation dependent upon the government to take care of the people when, in truth, the people are quite capable of taking care of themselves.

A free, independent people is a nation that cannot be controlled, and the elites believe in control.  They believe they know what is best and are determined to order society as they see fit.  Once the American people are bought off with entitlements and pork barrel spending, they become enslaved to the ruling elites.

There is a purpose to this effort to bring America, the last best hope for freedom, under the thumb of the elites.  It is because they seek to establish a one world government where everyone is subject to the powers that rule over them.  By creating a dependency upon government, the people allow their rights to be restricted.  Once this dependency takes hold, it becomes ever harder to escape.  The end of that road is the loss of personal freedom, for if you give up your responsibility to take care of yourself to some other entity, you in effect give up all of your rights.

Our Declaration of Independence stated that the rights of men are inalienable, they are part of our existing.  Our Constitution was written to secure those rights, which are the essence of freedom.  Therefore, the change we need is away from elite rulers who tell us what to do and to the continuance of freedom!  By voting once again for the lesser of two evils, by granting the Presidency to either elite party, we surrender the future and the promise of our birthright to live as a free people!
