   Iowa & New Hampshire

The results are in for the first two big ones, and there were some surprises for everyone.  On the Republican side, Mike Huckabee won an impressive victory in Iowa over Mitt Romney.  Likewise, with the Democrats, Barack Obama beat out Hillary Clinton.

In New Hampshire, the surprises continued.  For the GOP, the once left for dead John McCain won handily over Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee.  McCain of course, had won the New Hampshire contest even more impressively in his race against George W. Bush way back in 2000.  For the Democrats, Hillary Clinton also pulled out a comeback win over Obama, a win she sorely needed after losing Iowa.

So what does this tell us about the race for President as the primaries get going?  For one, the results of these first two major primaries show that the nomination for each party is very fluid.  The field is more wide open in the Republican race, with Rudy Giuliani still poised to win in some of the bigger states like Florida, New York, and California.  Among the Democrats, the race has come down to a battle between Obama and Clinton, and given the power of the Clinton political machine, the odds have switched back to Mrs. Clinton despite Obama's  strong showing in Iowa. The primaries going forward now take on a greater meaning, as the nominations for the two parties appear less sure for each of the candidates.

The other thing we have learned form these two early races is that the American people are truly undecided.  In fact, many voters are not very happy with the choices materializing before them, a further indication of the unrest and dissatisfaction that America has with the politics of Washington and the Democrat and Republican parties.
Yet, despite the dissatisfaction, the propaganda machines of both parties and the main stream media are working hard to convince us all that we have no other choice, nowhere else to go.  In other words, it is going to be another lesser of two evils election.

In the final analysis, it will make no difference which party wins in November, because if our next President is from either party, the American people will be the losers.  The two parties will walk away from a November victory convinced of their own invulnerability.  They will assure themselves continued power, and the cycle of victory generating more power generating more victories will continue unabated!  Despite the appearance of choice, in fact we will have guaranteed to ourselves less choice in the future.

The accumulation of power by the two major parties is the cause of the partisanship that has engulfed Washington.  That partisanship has shoved aside leadership, and put the future of the nation and our children in great jeopardy.  The inevitability of the two parties to control the political process means that the next generation of Americans will be stuck with whatever agenda they dictate.  That agenda is one of more big government intruding into our lives, declining personal freedoms that allow us to deicde our own individual fates, and a greater influence to the internationalists who would like to see the end of America sovereignty.

If you doubt that this is what will happen in the future, all you need to do is look at the current situation.  Although President Bush pushed through tax reductions during his time in office, he expanded the government and increased the national debt.  The Democrats are openly stating that they will rescind those tax cuts when they attain the Presidency.  Economically, America is a mess and if you ran your household budget like the elites run our government, you would soon find yourself bankrupt.

Personal freedoms are under constant attack as well.  Everything from your property rights to how you raise your children is slowly being regulated.   Smoking, or how much fat can be in your food, or if you have the right under the Second Amendment to own a gun is becoming a right subject to government intrusion.  Free speech, that is political free speech, is now regulated and destined for even more government control.  So-called "public financing" of campaigns is now being promoted, but who gets to say who gets what money is not really clear.

The international treaties like L.O.S.T. and Kyoto, both power grabs by the United Nations, are eroding the sovereignty of the United States.  Plans are now underway to allow Mexican truckers to come into the U.S., and of course the border fence we were promised is hardly being built at all.  The problem of illegal immigration is now becoming one of an invasion by those who do not seek to be Americans, but only to sign up for free benefits paid for by the hard working middle class.

For these reasons, and for many others as well, we should not really believe that we are being given a true choice in the 2008 election.  The problem is less the individual who gets elected and more the fact that the two major parties simply have too much power.  This great nation belongs to us all, but we have abdicated our responsibility and given over our authority to elites who have bought us off with entitlements, pork barrel spending, and lies.  The biggest of those lies is that only "they" have the wisdom, knowledge, and experience to govern.

If we fall for this propaganda once again, we will have further sold our birthright to an elite establishment and we will wake up finding that the inheritance we had been given was cleverly stolen from us.  Only an independent President can begin a reversal of these trends and a restoration of the founding principles that made America great.
Unless you are happy with the state of affairs in Washington, you must ask yourself, 'Am I being given a choice, or have I been duped'?  If you are not happy with the choices offered, your next question should be, 'What am I going to do about it'?
